Year in Review 2008-2009
Campaign Message

The Johnson School is in the midst of a very important capital campaign, Far Above...The Campaign for Cornell, which will enable us to remain competitive and help us to prepare the next generation of business leaders. To advance management education and deliver high-impact knowledge, we need your increased involvement and financial support. The Johnson School campaign priorities are: funding faculty and senior lecture positions, increasing scholarship support, funding program collaborations and centers, and maintaining a strong annual fund.

We have just completed a difficult fiscal year; the troubled economy presented us with many challenges, including a tough job market for graduates, fewer companies posting internships for first-year students, decreased financial support, and operational and staffing constraints due to budgetary cuts and the university endowment crunch. In spite of this, the spirit of our alumni, friends, and donors was not dampened; all continued to be generous with their volunteer time and financial support.

The Annual Fund finished its second-highest dollar amount in the history of the school, with $1.84 million raised. We are grateful to all who have been generous through this tough year— 2,358 alumni and friends donated to the Johnson School. Total campaign result for FY 09 was $7.54 million in new cash gifts and new commitments. From an overall campaign perspective, the Johnson School has now reached the $64.3 million mark toward its campaign goal of $100 million
