Steven Russell Distinguished Teaching Award
Sachin Gupta, Henrietta Johnson Louis Professor of Management and professor of marketing, was presented with the 2009 Stephen Distinguished Teaching Award at Reunion 2009 by the MBA Class of 2004. Gupta's research and teaching focus on new models of marketing research. These models help firms gather and analyze marketplace data to make better marketing decisions with respect to segmentation, targeting, and positioning. Gupta also studies returns on marketing investments in the pharmaceutical industry. He teaches data-driven marketing, and strategy and tactics of pricing, both popular marketing elective courses at the Johnson School. In 2008, Gupta received the O'Dell Award from the American Marketing Association for the best article published in the Journal of Marketing Research five years before. In 2007, he received the Apple Award for excellence in teaching.
Each year, the fifth-year reunion class selects the recipient of the Russell Distinguished Teaching Award, endowed by Stephen Russell '60, MBA '61. The award is given to a faculty member whose teaching and example have continued to influence graduates five years into their post-MBA careers.
