Manoj Thomas, assistant professor of marketing, was selected by the class of 2010 as this year's recipient of the Apple Award for Teaching Excellence. Thomas teaches strategic brand management and product management, and leads our Strategic Marketing Immersion Program. His research focuses on psychological processes that underlie consumer behavior, and his current research projects can be grouped under two streams: the psychology of value assessment and the role of processing fluency in judgments. He has published his research in the Journal of Consumer Research and the Journal of Marketing Research, and his work has been cited in the popular press. Thomas has been recognized as a Marketing Science Young Scholar (2009) and was nominated the Clifford H. Whitcomb faculty fellow by Cornell University (2008). Thomas also received the Half Century Club Award at Reunion 2010.
Established by the class of 1992 as part of its class gift, the Apple Award enables graduating classes to honor a faculty member who exemplifies outstanding leadership and enduring educational influence. Each year, the recipient is presented with a Tiffany crystal apple in recognition of his or her dedication and ability to motivate students.
