James R. Detert
James R. Detert is a new assistant professor of management whose research focuses on three topics: the antecedents, processes, and outcomes of improvement-oriented voice from subordinates to authorities in work organizations; leadership processes, behaviors, and outcomes; and ethical decision making and behavior, particularly the sociocognitive processes and mechanisms of moral disengagement. His research and consulting experience ranges across a variety of high-technology and service-oriented industries as well as public sector institutions, including K-12 education. His research has appeared in the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Operations Management, and Harvard Business Review. Detert received his PhD in organizational behavior from Harvard University. He was formerly an assistant professor at Pennsylvania State University's Smeal College of Business.
