Vishal Gaur is a new associate professor of operations management whose research interests lie in retail operations and supply chain management, including topics such as inventory management, product variety, distribution logistics, financial performance of retailers, and linking operational performance to financial performance. One of his ongoing projects uses aggregate firm-level data for retailers to address questions related to benchmarking inventory turnover, measuring performance improvements, and forecasting future sales. Another project deals with modeling the effect of consumer choice behavior on optimal retail assortments and competitive strategies for retailers. Gaur was formerly at New York University's Stern School of Business, where he taught the first-year MBA course in operations management and an elective course in retail operations. During the 2007-2008 academic year, he is also serving as a visiting associate professor at Harvard Business School. Gaur is associate editor of Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Operations Research Letters, and Production and Operations Management. He earned his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.
