Angela Mwanza, MBA '00, was presented with the fifth annual Wilbur Parker Distinguished Alumni Award for outstanding professional achievements and commitment to the community at the Black Graduate Business Association symposium October 20.

Mwanza's family has known both success and hardship: Her father came from a small town in Zambia to obtain a PhD at Cornell, and she lost a sister to AIDS. Angela has made tremendous strides in achievement, becoming vice president of the private investment management division at Lehman Brothers, and serving on the Johnson School's Dean's Leadership Committee, on the advisory boards for Entrepreneurship@Cornell and the Rhythm & Blues Foundations, and as a committee member of the Harlem YMCA and of Gods Love We Deliver, a New York City AIDS charity. She emphasized the importance of diversity in the workforce, encouraging symposium participants to "continue to grow personally and professionally."
