"C-level" speakers come to campus
The Johnson School was proud to welcome several "C-level" speakers to campus this fall, including Park Leadership Speaker Series guests Dan Hesse, MBA '77, CEO, Sprint Nextel Corp., on Oct. 2, 2008, and Barry Salzberg, CEO, Deloitte & Touche USA, on Oct. 30, 2008. William Weldon, CEO, Johnson & Johnson, delivered this year's Durland Memorial Lecture, Nov. 13, 2008. In addition, the Johnson School hosted career success expert and bestselling author Marcus Buckingham, on Oct. 24, 2008.
A bright outlook for MBAs
"By 2010, there will be 31 percent fewer 35- to 45-year-olds than there were in 2000. So the bottom line here is that as scary as the economic climate here seems, remember that you have demographics on your side. Because within the next five years, American businesses will find themselves short millions of knowledge workers. . . . I do believe that the financial services industry will rebound, but it will take a totally different shape tomorrow. I believe businesses will rebound as the credit crisis is resolved over the next six to ten months. And I believe there are still great opportunities in the business world for talented, flexible people like you."
Salzberg on the shrinking American workforce
