Eaton Vance Corp. has appointed John R. Baur, MBA ’05, director of global portfolio analysis. Baur joined Eaton Vance in 2005 as an analyst covering Latin America and became a portfolio manager in the Global Income Group in 2008.

Suddath Hires Michael J. Brannigan for the New Role of Chief Operating Officer

Michael J. Brannigan, MBA ’93, has been appointed vice president and chief operating officer by the Suddath Companies. According to Barry S. Vaughn, president and CEO of the Suddath Companies, Brannigan will serve to “enhance procedures and controls for operational efficiencies and integration across all Suddath business entities.” Prior to this appointment, Brannigan worked as chief financial officer at iGPS, after serving various leadership positions at Ryder System, Inc.

Gligor Tashkovich ’87, MBA ’91, delivered a talk at Cornell Nov. 28, “The Unconventional Entrepreneur.” After graduating from Johnson, Tashlovich worked at the World Economic Forum and co-founded the Albanian Macedonia Bulgarian Oil (AMBO) Corp. He also served a term “as the minister for foreign investment in the Republic of Macedonia.

Mary Jo Maydew Joins Ashford University Board of Trustees

Mary Jo Maydew, MBA ’87, “has accepted a position on the Board of Trustees for Ashford University.” Up to 2011, Maydew served at Mount Holyoke College as vice president for finance and administration. Prior to that, she “held the positions of assistant treasurer and assistant to the university controller” at Cornell University.

Jane Street’s Reynolds Turns to Art With Trading Fortune

Timothy Reynolds, MBA ’94, “who made his fortune transforming mathematicians into traders at Jane Street Capital LLC,” now uses his fortune to teach poor students photorealistic painting in the Ani Art Academies, the schools that he founded. These schools’ teaching technique comes from Anthony Waichulis, who instructed Reynolds in painting. Reynolds also funded spinal research and “made plans to open a school for disabled military veterans in New Jersey or Maryland.

CryoScience is one of three Taylor-Wharton Cryogenics, LCC, business units. In his new position, Anand will be responsible for the commercial development in Asia and the Middle East. Prior to this, Anand had 17 years’ experience in the electronics and medical gases and life science equipment industries.

Top Women in Finance: Allison O’Connor

Allison O’Connor, MBA ’05, was featured as one of the 2012 Top Women in Finance by Finance & Commerce. A senior manager at Eide Bailly LLP, an accounting and business advisory firm headquartered in Fargo, N.D., she is her company’s “undisputed health care expert.” Her responsibilities include helping health care providers with project management and implementation support, as well as with strategic and operations planning. She serves on the boards of Cedar Riverside People’s Center and the Women’s Health Leadership Trust in addition to many other volunteer activities.

Who will lead a merged Beaumont, Henry Ford health system?

On October 31, 2012, Beaumont and Henry Ford Health System signed a letter of intent to combine their operations. No decision has been made yet on who will lead the newly merged organization. Two possible candidates are Nancy Schlichting, MBA ’79, CEO of Henry Ford Health System, and Gene Michalski, CEO and president of Beaumont Health System.

Austin Rothbard Named Baker President

Austin Rothbard, MBA ’00, has been named president of Baker Knapp & Tubbs, a division of the Kholer Co. Interiors Group. He will oversee Baker Knapp & Tubbs Inc. in all of its functional aspects. Before this appointment, Rothbard served as president of Brunswick Billiards, and, prior to that, as president of Cabo Yachts.

The University at Buffalo (UB) School of Engineering and Applied Sciences appointed its new dean, Liesl Folks, MBA '04. She came to UB from HGST, a hard disk drive company in San Jose, California. Folks formerly served at Cornell University’s Center for Nanoscale Systems as an adviser.

QuisLex CEO Ram Vasudevan to Lead Panel on Managing Global Law Departments at 10th Annual West Coast General Counsel Conference

Vasudevan is CEO of QuisLex, a premier offshore provider of legal support services. Vasudevan presided over his firm’s growth from three employees in 2004 to more than 550 today. Prior to this, Vasudevan served at Skadden Arps and Sidley Austin, where he advised clients on corporate and M&A transactions.
