Stephen M. Smith, MBA '95, is president of Naviance LLC, the leading provider of planning, management, and advising for high schools. Smith is also a member of the adjunct faculty of Johns Hopkins University where he teaches graduate coursework in technology and business. Prior to co-founding Naviance, Smith led e-learning and strategy projects for corporate clients including OgilvyOne Worldwide, IBM, Pfizer, and collegeboard.com. Smith spent five years with The Thomson Corporation, where he served most recently as vice president of Digital Product Development for Peterson's / Thomson Learning. Prior to joining Peterson's in 1998, Smith was a founding member of the Internet consulting practice of Thomson Technology Consulting Group. Smith has also worked for the Engineering Multimedia Research Laboratory at Cornell University, which focused on improving first-year engineering instruction through technology-enabled learning.

Craig Edelman, MBA '00, began his post-Johnson School career in brand management at the Clorox Company, but resigned in 2003 to start his own company, HappyWares, with a focus on creating "homewares that provide happy solutions." The company's first product, the EZcarry (an ergonomically designed handle which makes carrying shopping bags much easier, rather than having them cut into the shopper's palms), is now being distributed in hundreds of retail outlets throughout the U.S., including in Ithaca's own Wegmans. "I am particularly proud of this," says Edelman, "since back when I was on campus, I would frequently walk their aisles dreaming up products to sell to them, and now I have."

Dmitrios Papaioannou, MBA '00, was promoted to executive vice president of Business Development at Civitas Consulting in Athens, Greece. Civitas is one of the leading public relations/marketing firms in Europe with fiscal year sales in 2004 of 11 million Euros. The firm's practice areas include Corporate Image Development and Reputation Management, Brand and Retail Communication, Financial and Investor Communication, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Public Affairs, and it is the exclusive international affiliate in Greece of Ketchum, a leading global public relations agency. Before joining Civitas in 2003, Papaioannou worked as a technology management consultant for a venture capital firm in Palo Alto, CA, advising on photonics, semiconductors, and communications deals.
