Johnson Plans for Growth in Executive Education Programs
Devin Bigoness hired as executive director to expand non-degree offerings

The Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University recently welcomed Devin Bigoness as executive director for executive education. In this newly created position, Bigoness is responsible for the strategy, design, and delivery of Johnson’s non-degree executive education programs. These currently include customized experiences for clients, and in the future, will expand to open-enrollment offerings on a global basis.
The addition of Bigoness signals new focus on Johnson’s range of offerings in executive education, which includes its two executive MBA programs. While Johnson has been delivering non-degree executive education programs since 1953, it now plans to expand its customized programs to provide clients with additional strategic education and employee development, through innovative approaches and learning processes.
“I am very excited to be joining the team at Johnson and to capitalize on the unique opportunities that we have in front of us in executive education” said Bigoness. “We are planning to build on Johnson’s history and brand, as a customized executive education provider, and to introduce several new strategic advancements. These include moving to an educator network model, utilizing new technologies in the learning process, and connecting in new and exciting ways to the business ecosystem in New York City and the rest of the world.”

Prior to joining Johnson, Bigoness served as a project director for Duke Corporate Education, based in New York, London (as part of the organization’s joint venture with the London School of Economics), and Durham, North Carolina. In that position, he facilitated the design and development of customized executive education programs, including client relationship management, program design, experience deliveries, and business development for clients, such as Google, IBM, Chanel, and Honeywell. Bigoness has also served as a classroom facilitator on global programs focused on leadership, innovation, and communications.
He has co-written numerous articles on the leadership lessons from the sports business environment, including a recent column for Forbes.com, co-authored with Karl Moore from McGill University. This series, titled “Business Lessons from Sports,” explores the sports world as a learning lab from which business professionals can draw key lessons on daily leadership.
Before joining Duke CE, Devin worked in sports marketing as brand manager for Sof Sole, the Raleigh, North Carolina-based brand of performance footwear accessories. He has also served as assistant athletic media relations director at Merrimack College (MA) and assistant sports information director at the College of Charleston (SC).
